Persian Rugs

By right Iran is considered to be homeland of the most beautiful rugs in the world. Persian rugs are synonyms for ultimate quality, durability, comfort and beauty. Iran exports its rugs to many countries all over the world. In fact, most of other carpets are just faded copies of Persian rugs. Let’s look through the history of rug weaving.

From the very beginning rugs were only hand-made. They were weaved for needs of a family, so they weren’t abundant. First rugs were not durable as far as natural dyes were going out of colour with time. But situation has greatly changed with the development of machinery and invention of synthetic dyes.

Rugs have begun to come in much larger quantities. Persian rugs were no exception. In Iran hand weaving experiences an increasing pressure of machine manufacture. Iranians don’t really often take an interest in mastering of the occupation of Persian rugs craftsman, while the market is getting full of “heartless” copies of Persian rugs.

Mostly those rugs are manufactured in China, Pakistan and India.
